Type of Resource:A refereed journal for second and foreign language scholars and educators
Description: LLT is a fully refereed international journal with an editorial board of international scholars in the fields of second language acquisition and computer-assisted language learning. LLT publishes articles that report on original research or present an original framework that links second language acquisition theory, previous research, and language learning, teaching, and testing practices that utilize technology. Articles containing only descriptions of software, pedagogical procedures, or those presenting results of surveys without providing empirical data on actual language learning outcomes will not be considered. LLT also publishes commentaries that discuss material either previously published in LLTor otherwise offering interesting opinions on issues related to language learning and technology. LLT is published exclusively on the World Wide Web. In this way, the journal seeks to (a) reach a broad audience in a timely manner, (b) provide a multimedia format which can more fully illustrate the technologies under discussion, and (c) provide hypermedia links to related background information. LLT is published three times per year in February, June, and October. Since January 2003, LLT has been indexed in the exclusive Institute for Scientific Information's (ISI) Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), ISI Alerting Services, Social Scisearch, and Current Contents/Social and Behavioral Sciences. In a 2009 Thomson Reuters report in ScienceWatch (http://sciencewatch.com/dr/sci/09/mar15-09_1D/), LLT was ranked in the top 20 Education Journals.
Uses: Teachers can read very interesting articles and columns pertaining to foreign language learning. For example, one column in the last issue was "Emerging Technologies: Mobile Apps for Language Learning". Also reviews of books are available.
